Compartive Essay

Creighton Brown vs. Alex Rider

Characters from books are super similar. They all share some sort of the same talents, personalities, or age. The two characters that are most alike are Creighton Brown and Alex Rider. They have a lot of similarities and differences; they are both Brave quick and smart, and they get into bad situations all the time.

A similarity between Alex and Creighton is there same bravery and the their age. They are always using their bravery like Alex uses his when he goes against Scorpia a terrorist organization where he has to defend for himself even though he is super scared. Creighton uses his by going into new territory and trying to fit in with his surroundings. He tries to fit in with his American friends but it's really hard because he was brought up by English people who are totally different. They are very moody to at one point Creighton totally went crazy  because he didn't get his Ale from the bartender. And Alex went crazy when his friend went to move to Los Angles but she was only staying there for a year. They both have their times when they both look like hero's and baby's.

Some other similarities are their physical abilities and reactions to some situations.  They both are quick acting if a dangerous situation comes around they both know what to do right away.  Like Alex who spotted a girl hanging from a building went up and got her right away with no hesitation. And Creighton who saw Indians tying to burn down a printing shop went out and tried to fight them off and won. Soon after he saw a man who was trapped under the collapsed shed. This is how Creighton and Alex are so much alike.

Some differences are the personalities. Alex is super out going he perks up to everyone. On the other hand Creighton is really shy and is grouchy to everyone. Alex's personality is really cool everyone likes him. Compared to Creighton he almost has no friends and  not everyone likes him including his parents. He really needs to lighten up to the idea of people because he tries to ignore them as much as he can. These are the differences between Alex Rider and Creighton.

This shows how characters from books are very much alike. All character's from books have some sort of relation to another character. They either show it in their actions, personalty, or their intelligence. This is how different book character are all alike in some way.

Cause and effect

In the book Year of the Hang Man the main character Creighton has had many conflicts which results in good results and bad ones. The main cause and effect of this book is that Creighton is starting to second guess his English country. He started becoming friends with the Americans and now the English sees him as a traitor. He keeps telling himself how guilty he would be if he starts spying for the English because he has made so many friend with the Americans. Creighton is confused and because of that he follows his heart and goes with the American side and helps them out.

Lost Kidergarder

Once upon a time in a big town a little kindergarten playschool was in session.  A little boy named Timothy wondered out in recess and found himself in the big city streets. When he realized that he was lost he cried for help then a white van came out of no where. The man in the Van said hi kid I recognize you are you lost and Timothy said yes. So he hopped into the van and drove off with the man. He seemed to vaguely remember him. When the teacher noticed Timothy was gone they went straight to the authorities. This was a curtail moment for him because the man in the van went to the Police station to turn in the boy when they got their the man got arrested right away.

When the trail happened little Timothy had to testify against the man and he said that he was just trying to help him out but the court didn't listen. He wanted the man to be innocent but he just couldn't persuade.  The jury had a decision and it was guilty he felt terrible but then Timothy's mom came and said I know this man he would never to this he was just trying to help me out. Then the jury once again had a decision and said he is innocent.  Everyone was okay and turns out the guy in the Van married his mom because his Dad died and everything turned out great.

Point of View

Author's note this piece is a point of view from my character in the book Year of the Hangman.

My book is told in my main character Creighton's point of view.He is a young 15 year-old boy who got shipped off to America from England to visit his uncle. They soon get hijacked by pirates who are American patriots and sailed to New Orleans. He is set free because he is a kid but his uncle is not. He now is on his own and starts working for Ben Franklin and is expected to spy.

He changes this story so much because his point of view is all on England side and everyone else is on America's side. He truly believes that Ben Franklin is the worst person in the world.Like  when they play cards he think that Ben Franklin is a cheater and is constantly telling the wrong side of the story. He says that these people are cruel people to the England but they really aren't he just says that because he's never been around a American and can't except the differences of them.

Importance of Family

Importance of Family

How would you feel if no one who really loved and cared for you like family should. According to www.dictionary.com Family is a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not . In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton the Curtis family has lost their mother and father this has majorly affected the boys. The oldest Darry (20 years old) has a job that supports his brothers Ponyboy and Sodapop.  The lost of their mom and dad have changed their whole life they have to defend themselves from soc’s, police, and other common hardships. Their gang is the only thing that brings the greasers together. Like Johnny who has never had a feeling of family and the gang is the only thing that gives him love which Ponyboy references on in the book. “If it hadn’t been for the gang Johnny would have never known what love and affection is” says Ponyboy. Other books highlight on misfortunes of kids and their family problems. The Outsiders shows how many other authors show how a non-traditional family affects the main characters.
Ponyboy a fourteen year-old boy with lots of problems on his mind the death of his parents, the soc’s constantly looking around for trouble, and much more. His brother Darry can’t always help him with these problems while dealing with two jobs. Soda is a high-school drop-out that helps support the family by working at a gas station which he enjoys. There really is no time for Ponyboy and I think he doesn’t feel a part of his new family (just Darry, and Soda). He feels like he get’s yelled at and treated unfairly without his parents.  Although he doesn’t know that his brothers are so proud of him continuing school, getting good grades, and being a star track runner. The lost of his parents have affected his life so much he has grown closer to his gang and I think they are a bad influence on him. He started smoking getting into fights and more bad decisions. Family is so important it supports a person, gives them good advice, and a loving community. Ponyboy needs this so he doesn’t turn bad like Dally or be like Johnny who forgot how a loving family feels like.
Although knowing how to explain characters problems is important, comparing other characters to that same problem has the same importance. Percy Jackson a thirteen year-old kid filled with tons of excitement. Percy is just like Ponyboy except he has only lost his father. They both are very alike they both act different and act out of line sometimes due to the lack of parents. Percy also has friends like Ponyboy who are tough and help him through bad times. If Percy’s dad was around he might be a little more responsible and wise. All these characters are alike they all have family problems and show it in their personality. This is how Percy and Ponyboy are alike.
Although knowing how Ponyboy and Percy Jackson are related, knowing how Ponyboy and Alex Rider have the same importance.  Alex Rider is so alike to Ponyboy way more than Percy Jackson. Alex Rider lost both of his parents in a plane crash. Although the difference between Alex Rider, Percy, and Pony is that he has been without his parents all his life so he knows how it is to be alone.  Alex is very careful of whom he is around due to all the killing in his life like his parents and friends and he is afraid if he gets to attached he might lose them like he did his parents when he was a little kid. The lack of family has totally changed him he is like Johnny and doesn't know what a loving family feels like. This is how Pony, Percy, and Alex are alike.
These characters are all alike they have lose of family or no family supervision. They act out because of this and are a way different person. If the family was around these characters would be different and the stories of these characters would be different too. The Outsiders shows how many other authors show how a non-traditional family affects the main characters. This is how loss of family is so important it affects the character and his story.

Tell-Tale-Heart

Have you ever met a guy who scares you by his evil look his scary posture and his mean ways?  You know that guy, who never talks to anyone has his head down and gives you the cold shivers when you look at him? Well the narrator of The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe is a very scary character. He seems super nice but he really isn't. He killed a innocent person for his evil eye which makes no sense.  He is clearly insane by his actions to the old man that he killed.

Next I will show you how insane he really is. He constantly insisted that he is not insane; I think that he does this just to prove to himself that he is sane. Next it takes him one whole hour to get through a single doorway. If you ask me it takes me two seconds to go through a doorway. Also he says that the
wall watches him in death. Which really doesn't make sense how can a wall watch you. He constantly  repeats himself so many times it's hard to count.

Although knowing how to prove a persons insanity is important, showing how he is insane has an even greater importance.  When the police come to check out where the scream came from the narrator invites them in at the middle of the night. Then when he offers them food and drink he sits them down right above where he cut up the body. He is clearly insane for doing this because this is not a mistake. Then he becomes guilty for his actions. Some sort of noise blasts into his ears and guilt sank in and he confessed to the police. He was insane for killing a man he worked with and liked, he did this all just for his evil eye.

The narrator  was so proud of himself by killing the old man he talks to the police right over his dead body. If you ask me, that's no accident. This shows that he is definitely crazy and always will be.Unfortunately, this character does not exist only in fiction. We see these stories everyday but not in this type of extreme.... or so we think.

"Nothing Gold can Stay"

This piece is a response to a poem I would like feedback of how well I related the poem to the characters.

I think this means that nothing good ever stays. People who get highs in life turn real quickly. Like when Ponyboy picked up Cherry he was soon about to witness a murder. Johnny also has had  to face the poem. He get abused by his mom and dad and the soc's. Then when everything goes down hill he dies. All the greasers have this affect and probably will never change.

The One-Sided Police

The police in  the Outsiders is so unfair. They always look at the greasers the wrong way. I hope that later in the book the Greasers don't get profiled by  the police. If a soc get's in trouble the probably don't get in as bed as trouble as a greaser. This is why the police should not profile the greasers and treat them the same way they would the sco's.

Sodapop

Sodapop is a old teenager who is always looking out for his little brother Ponyboy. He is a high school drop out and is very nice and always has a charm around people. Ponyboy looks up to Sodapop so much he does everything like him. The one thing Pony is mad about is that he dropped out of school. I think that he will purpose to his girlfriend and get happily married.

Ghost

People think I am a spooky evil ghost. People who see me run in terror but I am not evil I just want a friend. When ever anyone see's me they run and hide. If I had a friend people would realize that I am a nice ghost who just wants everyone to like him. I wish that someday some kid will take a change on me and take mercy on my ice cold cloudy outside and befriend me.

Tell-Tale-Heart

Is the narrator sane or insane? I believe that he is totally insane he doesn’t know exactly what bothers him with the old man he acts before he thinks. He likes the old man but he doesn’t  like the old man. It doesn’t make sense. Also what does the evil eye mean, I don't think he knows either.  I most of all think he is insane because he kills a man that he likes for an evil eye of his.

Next I will show you how he is so insane.  He constantly insisted that he is not insane. I think that he does this just to prove to himself that he is sane. Next it takes him one whole hour to get through a single door. If you ask me he has to be crazy he is just a messed up individual. Later he says that the
 wall watches him in death.

In conclusion I have come that he is of the most crazy he doesn’t think straight and kills a guy for no reason. He likes this guy but kills him over his evil eye. He is crazy and you know it I think that he is one of the craziest characters I have ever read about and that's how it will stay

Storm Breaker

Storm Breaker
The Storm Breaker by Anthony Horowitz is a great read it ties into all of the aspects of action and adventure. You won’t be able to put this book down. It is the first book of this action packed series. Alex is a great character he is a charming person with lots of excitement. Alex has a lot in common with other characters including myself. Other books like it are the City of Ember, Found, and many more. The two that are most alike are Under a Worn Torn Sky and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Alex is a kind and generous person. He would never do anything to hurt you. Alex and I are so very similar. I play basketball and baseball just like him, and he is very athletic and I am too. We both love adventures, he has so many cool experiences. Like going to the Bahamas and going to Miami, because of his missions from MI6. I hope someday I can go on adventures like him but won’t have to endure the torture and pain he has to go through on his missions.
Although knowing how to relate to the character is important comparing books has an even greater value. This book is a lot like Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In this book the main character is a guy named Percy. He is a young, brave, kind, and heroic person. Percy is also the son of Poseidon. He has to battle off fearless creatures that will do anything to kill him. Percy is as kind and loyal as Alex, Percy would do anything for a friend just like Alex. Also Percy and Alex are always pleasant to be with. They are always trying to be helpful with their friends and family. Another book like this is Under a Worn Torn Sky which is about a young solider who is in World War II. Dan is a polite pilot whose plane goes down and he has to parachute down in to enemy territory. He breaks his leg on the way down. A kind man finds him and helps him travel all the way back to England were he can get help and get back to his family. Dan is much like Alex but 10 years older he has a very giving heart that would do anything for someone. Also he is a very simple person who always understands just like Alex.
Alex Rider a kind, Heroic, and an admirable person. He is a very well known and talked about person, he always has a smile on his face and an upbeat attitude. Alex is a lot like other book characters, whose features are brave, heroic, and kind like Alex Riders. There is a ton of characters like Alex and I think that these are the most interesting characters. They always want to save the day and be kind to the others.

Are you Proud of your Country

I am proud of my country because we have a good military to keep us safe. A pretty good government all and all. I like that we have the rights of free speech and the rights of religion compared to the other countries. Also we have a democracy so we can vote on our government so everything is fair.

Baseball Complex

Author's note: This assignment was a conclusion to a paragraph. This is a good conclusion because I express myself well. Please comment on my expression/ voice.

They are never going to put the new baseball complex in because they are just to scared to get it started. They already paid for the land and everything but has been two years late and all that sits there is a empty field. The government keeps pushing back the date and people are getting mad. Some day I would have hoped to play there but I will never be able too.

Test's

I hate the word Test it get's me all nervous and gives me no confidence. They should band all test and quiz's from school. They are very stressful for many students. People spend hours preparing and studying for test and quizzes. If test's and quiz's were banded than no students ever have to spend nights worrying about test's.

Letter to Casey

Dear Casey,
I read about your game ending strike out, you were in a tough position but here is what you should have done. I heard many people came to see this game of yours. It was at Village park and your team was Mudville right? And you were losing by 2. That is exposition when the conflict and the characters are introduced.
First you got up to the plate and you were so confident with two outs. When the first pitch was
Delivered, Watched it go into the catcher’s glove. This is when the story begins to rise in action. Then you took strike two and got to angry this is when there was no turning back. This is the climax of this story. Next  you got pitch number 3 and you struck-out that is when the falling action occurred`. When the pitch gets to you, you strike out and the game is over and that is when the resolution happens. You should have controlled yourself. You may have had a hit or a walk if you didn't get so angry, and you could have won the game for your team. This is what you should have done Casey, you might have succeeded and you would have been the hero of the town, but you got angry and lost the game.

Sincerely,
                      Drew Barth

Summer Break

Summer Break is so fun I love just how you don't have to think about school and can have so much fun. In the summmer I go to a lot of friends houses and play baseball because it is baseball season. I just love summer just so much things to do I wish that there was summer all year round. One my best summers was last year because I played a lot of fun baseball with my baseball team. This is why I like summer.

Pete The Penguin

One fine day In Hollywood there was a movie shooting staring Pete the Penguin. Pete was a penguin who is a superhero in a popular kids show. Pete loved the city of LA and loved his owner Fred for taking such good care of him.
When Pete had a day off he would usually go in his huge pool for the whole day and swim. Well today Pete didn't feel well It was his day off and he couldn't swim because of his stomach. He wanted to swim so bad that he flopped into the pool. When he was under water he coughed and water Rushed in he was slowly drowning. When Fred saw this he called 911 and dragged Pete out of the water. Scorpia

Scorpia
How would you feel if you were betrayed by your friends and left out to dry? In the book Scorpia by Anthony Horowitz Alex Rider a 14 year old spy gets betrayed by his team who killed his dad. He is so confused and decides that the best decision is for him to turn to the terrorist side and take his revenge on MI6. He is so confused and mislead this is why you should always be trustworthy and loyal to your friends.
In this book it is so important to relate to the character because if you don’t you may not like this book. For the people who can relate you can feel Alex Riders thrilling moments and near death experiences. I can really relate because I have always wanted to be just like him when I’m fourteen and go on the exciting adventures. When you read this book you are always at the front of your seat and just can’t put the book down.  This is why almost everyone can relate to this.
Although relating to the character is important knowing the plotline has the same importance. In this book Alex started in everyday life. Then there was a minor conflict that MI6 killed his dad. Then the conflict is realized when MI6 actually shot and killed his father on video that is when Alex knew it was true. When he finds out that MI6 was really working with his dad and died for his country he resolves the conflict and goes back into everyday life. So this means that this story is a comedy.
This book is a great thriller you never want to put it down you just need to know what’s going to happen next. This book was great but the main lesson is always being trustworthy and loyal is what you should be to a friend no matter what. You should be loyal because then people will trust you and that is a great thing to have because one mistake and that person may never trust you again.
