Deep Water

Deep Water
The water was cold and dark William could not think of anything to do accept wait till he got to the bottom and push up to the surface. When that point happened he pushed with all his might and get to the surface. He stared to see light again. He had made it to the surface but he still couldn’t breathe his mouth did not make over the water and he sank right back down in the cold and dark water. He was scared of the water ever since. In the shot story “Deep Water” by William O. Douglas you should never give into your fears.
When I was little I was very afraid of water and could not get passed it. I should have overcome it when I was littler but I didn’t and now I finally know how to swim. William and I are very alike. He used to be afraid of water and I was too. When I finally figured out how to swim I felt so good about myself and he did too. The best parts about overcoming your fears are looking down at it and seeing how silly it was.

Obviously you should never give into your fears but when you’re truly afraid of that fear it is very hard to do. This short story was very good to show us our personal fears and try to explore and get over them. When he swam to the island he felt as good as ever. He was proud of himself and got over his fear. This short story helps us examine our fears and solve them. The storyboard of this story was good being afraid of water is a good topic of fear because a lot of people go through it and slowly lose that fear of water.
When William was on the pool side by himself he should have backed away and waited for the others but instead he was almost in the pool. He almost drowned himself by sitting there intern he got dunked and drowned.  He probably should not have survived that dunking but he fought and kept strong. This short story had two very good lessons in it. The first one was that you should never do anything by yourself unattended if you’re not confident enough. The second one is never give into your fears or try to solve them the best you can.
This was a very good story and a good theme to it. The one thing you must not forget is never give into your fears. You have to fight your fears and once you do you feel really good about yourself. This is why you should never give into your fears.

The Pearl

The Pearl
It was a warm and misty morning when Kino awoke from his bed. He heard the song of evil and could not get it out. It was coming from Coyotito’s room he was sleeping peacefully with a small scorpion on his arm. Kino came to his bed and tried to swat it away and it happened the baby got stung. He woke up screaming with pain. That’s why finding the pearl for Kino and Juana was very much needed when he got stung and could have saved him. In the book The Pearl by John Steinbeck the pearl was much needed to save Coyotito but was it worth his life?
The pearl was never worth someone’s life that is pretty obvious but when Kino can’t understand that the baby gets taken away and into a better place. Juana was very happy in the beginning of the book because the pearl was going to help Coyotito with his scorpion sting. Then when Juana realized that the pearl was no need anymore because the baby got better. When Juana realized this she knew that this pearl was a demon and had to be thrown away so no one could have it, but she gave into Kino’s word. The bad part is that Coyotito didn’t have choice between life and death and didn’t understand anything that was going on and could not product himself from the evil pearl.
The Pearl plotline is interesting it was hard to understand but at the end of the book it was clear of what it is. It’s a tragedy plotline it is like this because first the storyline is in conflict by Coyotito getting stung. Then there is a huge raise to power by Kino finding the pearl of the world. Then when Kino can’t find a buyer to trade with him he gets mad and the story turns to chaos. Finally when Kino, Juana, and baby Coyotito try to get to the capital they get found and hunted by trackers. When they seem like they were almost going to make it out alive and have a happy ending, but not the helpless Coyotito he gets in the crossfire and has a very tragic death. The whole family took the hit with him mentally and Kino and Juana will probably never be the same again.
In the beginning of the book Kino and Juana were a very good team they worked together and thought together. They had good plans for their family once they found the pearl. In the middle of the book John Steinbeck did a very nice job giving the book a very fast beat. It made the book have any possible outcome and that was just great. In the end of the book it had the same beat but it just dropped at the end when Coyotito got shot and the story just got very sad and depressed.

The Pearl was a great book and it was a good read. The only question that comes up about this book is was the pearl worth taking someone’s life? Another thing that would have been better to this book is a sequel to it, to show us what Kino and Juana did with their lives after coyotito.

The Peral Reflection

The ending of the book was a little weird it was to deep. Like when the baby gets shot that should not have happened it was a little weird. The lesson of this story is that you never should take something over someone. Expressly if it's you're son or daughter. Even if he didn’t shot his baby I think the family would have had a bad out come so that is why they should have thrown the pearl away the moment they figured out it was evil. In the end I feel really sorry for Coyotito  he was in the line of fire and he got shot even though he did nothing. This is why you should never give up someone for some thing.

If Kino would have never found the Pearl every thing would be alright and they would be a normal family and he would still be a fisherman and none of this non-sense would have come true. In the beginning of the book it was good  with all the excitement  going around and the great pearl spreading around the book was fun. It should have been that up tempo the whole book.

In the middle of the book the story got super boring fast this was the only bad thing in this book. If he would have ran into trouble quicker the story would have been great. Other than that it was a pretty good story.

Will the Pearl destroy the Family?

Juana believes that the pearl will destroy them and they will never be the same. Kino thinks he will bring wealth and fame to the family. Juana is under a lot of stress and should not worry about as much so she can concentrate more on the baby. Kino should probably put the pearl in the bank and get cash for it.Then he can support his family and get a better life for his family. This is what I think of chapter 3 and if the pearl will destroy their family.

Journel Reflection on the Pearl

The book is OK it really gets boring after he finds the pearl and I have lost all interest.
Something bad has to happen to help the story regain its fun. Then the story would be a
A lot more appealing. Then when he fights against the bad and beats it the story will become good.
If I was John Steinbeck I would add a little bit more action and robbery of the pearl in the story.
Otherwise it's pretty good.
